Ifa Divination, which makes use of an extensive corpus of texts and mathematical formulas from the Yoruba people of Southwestern Nigeria. Ifa serves to codify both the physical and spiritual facets of traditional Yoruba life. Within a Western frame of reference, Ifa’s focus on the spiritual aspects of human life and society making it appear as simply a pagan traditional religion. However, in reality Ifa embodies much of Yoruba culture encapsulating the traditional Yoruba spirituality, philosophy, alchemy, masonry, language, literature, science, medicine, art, music, creativity, and more. The integration of this wide variety of consciousness and subconsciousness within Ifa results from the traditional Yoruba conception of the world as one fundamentally imbued with spirit. Cosmology is the study of the structure of the universe which attempts to discover the principles of unity that sustain creation. The Cosmology of Ifa is based on the belief that the microcosm (immediate environment) is a reflection of the macrocosm (the universe). This means that the forces that created the stars and the galaxies also created the earth, including the plants and animals that evolved on the planet. Because of this continuity, Ifa teaches that every problem faced by humans has an analogous counterpart in every realm of being.
One of the functions of Ifa divination is to identify the ways in which universal forces manifest in everyday life. If cosmology teaches the principle that light comes from (matter) darkness and darkness comes from light. It also teaches that everything that exists is an expression of ase. The Yoruba word ase has multiple meanings. In a cosmological context, ase is the force that sustains creation. The primal manifestation of ase would be the invisible force that creates both light and darkness. Physics calls this force electromagnetism. Everything in the material universe generates electromagnetic force fields. In Nature, the smallest atom to the largest star contains forces of expansion and contraction is a spherical arena. The spherical shape of most energy patterns is represented in Ifa divination through the use of a dimensional circle in the form of a tray (Opon Ifa). In addition there are over four hundred divinities known as orisa. The lives of the orisa are continued through the supernatural powers of various forces of nature such as water, wind, fire, thunder, lightning, as well as powers that reside in the earth and in trees.
Furthermore, according to Ifa, ori has four distinct arenas of perception; we think about our internal experience (identity emotions), we acknowledge our relationship with other people and things(evaluate levels of trust and empathy), we examine the past (access memory), and we envision the future activate the imagination (manifestation). The ori provides frequency by way of energy alignment. Constructing an Ifa interpretation of Quantum mechanics shows that the concepts fundamental to Ifa hold consistent with some of the main findings of Quantum Entanglement.
